Africans Rising is committed to justice, peace, and dignity for all Africans and we recognize the need to emphasize solidarity with groups that often face oppression or marginalization, including people living with disabilities, members of the LGBTQI community, and women.
In recognition of Women’s History Month, Africans Rising is hosting an event to highlight and commemorate the glorious history of African women and their engagement in liberation movements and social justice work over the years.
We want to highlight the past and present contributions of women in our anti-colonial and anti-imperialist struggles, women fighting illicit financial flows, and women working to preserve the environment.
Through the Africans Rising #ReRightHistory campaign, our movement will host an open conversation on March 31 to celebrate the African woman and explore how we can #ReRightHistory to empower women, promote feminist organizations, and ensure a dignified existence for all people.
The event will facilitate knowledge sharing and learning by creating a space for participants to take the lead in sharing their experiences and wisdom during a day-long celebration that includes open discussions, exhibitions/presentations, and a panel discussion.
